Getting started
From an empty Docsroom to a request pack someone can answer, in about ten minutes.
1. Create your account
The first time Docsroom opens it asks for your name, email and a password of at least ten characters. That first account owns the organisation: it is an admin, and nobody can change its role or remove it. Invite the rest of the team from Team, under Manage in the left-hand rail, afterwards.

2. Add a request pack
Request packs, under Search at the top of the rail, is where Docsroom opens. Choose Add request pack. Under Start with, keep Blank request pack or pick a template. Client name is who the pack is for: a business, a family, a new starter, a legal matter or a deal. Pack name is the job, such as Move-in, Right to work or Year-end, and the dialog shows what the whole pack will be called. Open Add a contact · optional to add the first person and their email, then Create request pack.
That creates the client as well as the pack. What kind of client it is (Business client, Family, Employee, Legal matter, Deal or Other) can be changed later under Client type on its Details tab.
3. Add the people
Pack options, the dots menu at the top of the pack, has People, which opens the client’s People tab. Add person takes a name, an email and a Role or job title · optional, such as tenant, director or new starter. You assign requests to these people, and each of them gets their own link.
4. Add the requests
Back in the pack, add sections, then requests. For each request give a short title for the list, the full ask, and optionally why it matters, a needed-by date and a priority. Assign it to a person.

5. Send it
A new pack is a draft, and a draft goes nowhere on its own. Send pack, at the top of the pack, selects every unfinished request that has a person with an email address, shows you the email before it goes, and on sending makes the pack active. Requests with nobody assigned are left out, and it says how many.
If you would rather not send email at all, open the actions beside a person on the People tab and choose Create link, then pass the link on however you already talk to them. See Sending requests.
Once there is more than a handful of packs, Search at the top of the rail, or Cmd+K from any page, finds a client, pack, request, person, file or template by name; see Search.
Try it on yourself. Add yourself as a person on a pack with your own email and send yourself one request. You will see exactly what the other side sees, and your reply lands back in the pack.
Until your organisation is set up, Settings, then Tools & setup, has a Setup checklist saying how far through you are, with a link to each step.
A second pack for the same client
Open the client, with Client details under Pack options or by searching for its name, and on its Request packs tab choose Add request pack. The new pack sits beside the first, with the same people to hand.
Bringing a list of clients in
The list of every client is at /workspaces in the app. Open the dots menu beside its Filters button and choose Import clients. It takes a CSV from your existing system: one row per client with a heading row, up to 500 at a time. The client’s name is the only column needed; a reference or company number, a type (client, family, employee, matter or deal), a contact name, their email and their role are picked up when present. Each row becomes a client with you as its owner and the contact as its first person. Names already in Docsroom are skipped, so you can import the same list again safely.
Adding a whole list of requests at once
When you already have the list, open Pack options, choose Add several requests and paste it in, one request per line. Each line becomes a request in that section, in the order you wrote it, all of the same kind and for the same person. Open any of them afterwards to add wording, a needed-by date or a form.
Notes for your team
A client’s Notes tab, headed Team notes, is for the things only your side sees: who is away, when to chase, what was agreed on the phone. Write one under New note and press Add note; Pin keeps it at the top. The person who wrote a note can remove it. Notes are searchable, so a note about who to chase is one search away.
Whose client it is
Every client names an owner on your team, the person responsible for it. It is you when you create the client, and it can be changed under Managed by, in Ownership & status on the client’s Details tab. On the list of clients, the tabs at the top switch between All clients and My clients, and inside Filters the Owner list adds Unassigned for the clients still to be picked up, and each colleague by name. Request packs has an Owner filter too.
